Constable Craig Cameron Town was a dedicated member of the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS), serving faithfully from his hiring on September 8, 1989, until his retirement.

In 1991, while on duty, Craig sustained life-altering injuries from a gunshot wound that left him quadriplegic. Despite the severity of his injuries, he remained remarkably positive, often saying that being a police officer was the best job he ever had.

Postscript

Craig’s life was a testament to resilience and strength. With the unwavering support of his family and devoted healthcare team, he continued to embrace life—traveling to Scotland, visiting Disneyland, and camping along the Cabot Trail and throughout Canada’s Eastern Provinces. His deep faith sustained him, and he was an active and cherished member of the Holy Family Parish. He regularly attended the OPMF Ceremony of Remembrance, considering it a profound honour to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

In February 2023, the TBPS recognized Craig’s service and commitment by awarding him the 30-year Exemplary Service Bar.

Sadly, due to complications stemming from his injuries, Craig passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 65 with his wife, Jillian, and son, Sean by his side.

Constable Town’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the colleagues he inspired, and the community he served. Though his watch has ended, his impact will never be forgotten.
